Halal-Certified Salt from Indonesia for UAE Importers

We ship Halal-certified salt from Indonesia to importers in the United Arab Emirates, with documents prepared for the Indonesia–UAE CEPA and for re-export to other GCC markets.

The Indonesia–UAE CEPA

The CEPA between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates entered into force on 1 September 2023. Preferential duty under the agreement is claimed by the importer with a certificate of origin issued for the CEPA, provided the goods meet the agreement’s rules of origin. We confirm the certificate of origin form in each quotation, and your customs broker can confirm the rate that applies to the UAE tariff line for salt.

Halal and the UAE market

Our salt is Halal certified; the issuing body and certificate number are [awaiting data] and will be published with the certificate. For food ingredients, UAE importers and retailers generally ask suppliers for a Halal certificate. Whether our certificate is accepted for your sales channel should be checked by the importer with the relevant authority or a Halal consultant before the first order.

Re-export to other GCC markets

Many UAE trading companies supply other Gulf markets such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Oman. If the salt will be re-exported, tell us the end market: label language, pack format and the documents each GCC country requests may differ from those of the UAE.

Certificates issued per batch, such as the COA and Halal certificate, travel with the goods and can be passed on to the next buyer. Registration and import permits in each GCC country are handled by the importer in that country.

Food import registration

The UAE importer is responsible for checking local food import registration and labelling requirements for salt before the first shipment, and for telling us which product information that registration needs. We prepare the specification, COA and label text from our side. The general import sequence is described in how to import salt from Indonesia.

Buyer questions

Does Indonesian salt get preferential duty in the UAE?

It can, if the shipment meets the rules of origin of the Indonesia–UAE CEPA, in force since 1 September 2023, and carries the matching certificate of origin. The duty applied depends on the UAE tariff line for the product, so confirm the rate and the certificate requirements with your customs broker.

Is your salt Halal certified for the UAE?

Yes, our salt is Halal certified; the issuing body and certificate number will be published with the certificate. Whether that certificate is accepted for your sales channel in the UAE should be checked by the importer with the relevant authority or a Halal consultant before the first order ships.

Can we re-export your salt to Saudi Arabia or Oman?

Yes, re-export is possible, and we can prepare packs and documents for it. Tell us the final market at the RFQ stage, because label language, pack format and required certificates can differ between GCC countries. The importer of record in each country checks its own registration and import rules.
