Who this section is for
We write these pages for the people who set salt specifications and choose suppliers: procurement staff comparing quotations, QC teams checking a certificate of analysis (COA) when a shipment arrives, and importers who need to explain Indonesian salt terms to their own customers.
Indonesian salt trade terms often have no direct equivalent elsewhere. “Krosok” or “gosrok” means coarse salt harvested from evaporation pans, K1 to K3 are quality classes used by salt farmers and traders, and the “mesh” printed on a bag of fine salt does not always refer to the same sieve standard. The articles here explain these terms in technical language you can verify.
Articles
- Salt Mesh Size Chart: Mesh 16–26 to Millimetres, and How to ChooseMesh-to-mm table, why Mesh 26 needs clarification, and how particle size affects a production line.
- Indonesian Salt Grades K1, K2, K3 ExplainedWhere the grades come from, NaCl content according to the literature, and which grade is usually chosen for which use.
How we handle numbers
Every standard or regulatory figure in this section links to its source, for example the US standard sieve table for mesh-to-mm conversion and SNI 3556:2016 for iodized consumption salt in Indonesia. We do not publish general figures for Ventura’s own products (NaCl, moisture, insoluble matter, KIO3). Those values apply per batch and appear on the COA; until the data is released, pages show [COA] or [awaiting data].
Figures from the literature, such as the NaCl ranges for K1, K2 and K3, are labelled as a general industry description. They vary between sources and between harvest seasons. Use them for orientation, then set acceptance limits in your contract based on lot test results.
Specification and export reference pages
- Salt grades K1, K2, K3Short explainer of the coarse-salt grades with a comparison table.
- Salt mesh sizeMesh-to-mm table and an interactive mesh gauge.
- Iodine contentSNI 3556:2016, WHO guidance and Malaysian rules, plus converting KIO3 to iodine.
- How to import salt from IndonesiaSteps from enquiry to shipment, and the documents buyers usually request.
From reading to a purchase specification
If you already know what you need, send your specification through the quotation form. State the grade or mesh, the NaCl and moisture limits you work to, packaging, volume and destination. Overseas buyers can use the export enquiry form; buyers in Indonesia can use the domestic form.
